They were our best friend that fused Glam styles with Operatic Rock…on the way they taught us a little Bohemian and how to keep ourselves alive. They were the Champions that rocked us in a Flash, no matter how under pressure we were. Video did not stop them and they reminded us to always love our radio’s because it had a kinda of magic, that wanted to break free with a one world vision.. a sort of miracle in a generation that wanted it all, but then came a sad death and a voice was silenced except for one last Innuendo? Who are they?

The core of Plant’s life was the simple idea that one should be free. Free to grow your hair, free to wear unbuttoned blouses, and free to sing about sex in a way that can very loosely be described as “innuendo.”

Freddie Mercury, while an incredible musician and probably equal to Plant’s in terms of talent; was always more famous because of his homosexuality, and never made the same impression like Plant did; very much like LZ, who influenced many more future bands than Queen.

Queen wrote most of their songs that could be played on FM, and were more catchy than of real artistic value. For e.g: “Fat Bottomed Girls,” “We Will Rock You,” “We Are The Champions" etc. Their music wasnt as diverse and musically complex (besides a few of their songs, like B.R) as Zeppelin’s. And while Bohemian Rhapsody is a great song in terms of its tune, its lyrics are very pretentious. And thats the problem i have with Queen: they come off as very pretentious, trying to appeal to the crowd by making mass-popular catchy tunes as compared to the musical geniuses in Zeppelin.

People (older than myself, who were Queen fans and attended many Queen gigs) have told me that Queen were a washed up band before Live Aid, although Mercury’s performance on that day will probably never be suppassed
